Jim and Sherrie Everhart are the proprietors, who are all about having fun on this wine adventure of a lifetime. Their grape growing journey began when they purchased a breathtakingly beautiful piece of land with nine acres of mature vineyards above Salmon Falls Road called the “Pilot Ridge Vineyard”. The vines there are unique because they are grown on their own root stock, which is very rare in the vineyards of this generation. With this hilltop micro climate and exceptional farming techniques, including handpicked small lots of fruit, they began handcrafting small batches of interesting and Award Winning Field Blends. Bella Lynda, (named after Sherrie’s Mom) is an Italian Field Blend, Romantique Harmony, a Bordeaux Field Blend and Ryker & Ridley Red (named after Jim and Sherrie’s Grandsons) a Rhone Blend, which won best Red and Rhone wine in El Dorado County!
In June of 2013, they took a giant leap in their wine making journey and opened their own winery: “Everhart Cellars, Hart 2 Hart Vineyards.” This Coloma Valley location is all about adventure! It is located in the heart of world class whitewater rafting and expansive hiking/biking trails along the South Fork of the American River.
The wine country estate is nestled in the heart of Gold Country on 120 acres along historic highway 49 between Auburn and Placerville. With more than 15 acres of mature vineyards with 7 different grape varietals including portugese port vines, you are sure to find something that strikes your fancy! The estate includes the winemaking facilities and a friendly tasting room where you can taste the latest releases. The winery also offers custom crush services, a spacious event venue, and vacation guest house where you can get away from it all and stay amongst the grape vines.

Marco Cappelli, Winemaker
A UC Davis graduate in enology, Marco has been making our wines since 2010. Previously, he made wines for Swanson Vineyards in Rutherford for 17 years, and apprenticed in Italy, France and Australia. Marco lives by the belief, “Wine is as integral a part of our daily lives as bread and pasta, and a whole lot more fun.”
Marco Cappelli is a gifted winemaker considered to be both an artist and technician for his new and old school practices, creating fine wines that best reflect the vineyard’s terroir. In fact, his love of the vine runs deep: Marco is as comfortable tending his own El Dorado County vineyards as he is crafting wines such as our dessert wines: Angelica, Sherrie (a Sherry Wine), and Black Muscat.
Hart 2 Hart Vineyards and Everhart Cellars
Our winery is located in the Coloma Valley and is our primary location; it features our beautiful winetasting room, event facility, and custom crush facility. Nestled in El Dorado County’s Sierra Foothills, across the highway from the South Fork of the American River and the Magnolia Ranch, a well known equestrian staging area into Cronan Ranch, it is in the perfect location for anyone looking to escape to golden wine country. Local parks are popular for hiking, horseback riding, and trail biking. Trails criss-cross the area and allow access to the South Fork of the American River, which is one of the most popular rafting rivers in the US!
The site and growing conditions are superb. The property is located in an ancient river valley in the lower foothills at an elevation of 800 to 1,000 feet. It’s unique location near the South Fork of the American River and adjacent hills brings cool evening downdrafts and the soil consists of well drained decomposed granite.
Pilot Ridge Vineyard
El Dorado County
Our Pilot Ridge Vineyard sits high on a meta-volcanic ridge that overlooks the South Fork American River, Folsom Lake, the Sacramento Valley, the Sutter Buttes, and the Sierra Peaks of Lake Tahoe.
The rocky soils, steep hillsides, intense sun, and nighttime cooling create grapes and clusters that are small, dark, highly concentrated and ripe with great acidity and tannins.
The meta-volcanic rock that makes up the site has a dark green color with high mineral content, which erodes to dark red soil high in iron and other minerals. This soil gives our wines its bold fruit character, balance, dark color, rich tannins and wonderful fruit nose and fresh acidity.
Planted on its own root, half of this 9 acre vineyard is dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon in a terraced west facing amphitheater. This site creates our most prized and luscious Cabs including our Reserve and The American.
Three other vineyard blocks make up the rest of the planting. This includes 40 rare and well known varietals that we blend into our very popular field blends and varietal wines including Ryker And Ridley Red, Bella Lynda, Romantique Harmony, Primitivo, Zinfandel, Orange Muscat and Ruby Lips dessert wine.
